Call for Donation to the “Go Back to School” Fund Initiated by Sina.com and China Siyuan Foundation for Poverty Alleviation(2)

　　Faced with the cruel reality, Sina.com donated 500,000 yuan to establish the “Go Back to School” Fund together with China Siyuan Foundation for Poverty Alleviation on May 13. Many enterprises and individuals responded to the call and over three-million-yuan donation of money and items has been collected up till the morning of the 16th. The work team of the “Go Back to School” Fund has rushed to the hardest hit areas in Sichuan province for on-the-spot inspection on the 14th and determined on two major items for using the donations: firstly, aid to young children (including by not limited to orphans) and teachers affected by the disaster must be secured to help them go back to school as soon as possible; and secondly, money would be spent to rebuild school buildings. Among the above two items, the work team will use more resources in the first item, combining material aid with spiritual help and establishing a special executive organ in Chengdu, which will cooperate with local civil organizations, primary-level organizations of China National Democratic Construction Association, local governments and other social forces to do a good job in detailing every project in a fairly long period to come. It will make all efforts to use the money donated by entrepreneurs and individuals to those most in need.

　　Unite as one, we shall fight against the quake with determination and rescue those in danger. However, with the aftershocks getting weaker and efforts to rescue people in danger or those injured in place gradually, the focus of government work and public work in disaster-hit areas will shift to rebuilding the homestead and restoring order to daily life, work and study, especially the re-establishment of the educational system in the following days. Compared with the emergency of rescue and relief work, it remains a long-term project lasting for months or even years. Therefore, we call on all enterprises, social organizations and individuals to be concerned with school rebuilding efforts in disaster-hit areas, to extend your hands to those innocent children, helpless but desiring to go on with studying.
